Democracy is alive and not-so-well!
For any of us, both Republican and Democrat, who might at once be disturbed and/or amused at the tenor of the recent on-fire GOP debate with personal insult after personal insult being hurled around, here is my ANTIDOTE!
I’m delighted to announce the audio recordings from my radio interview on Sam Liebowitz’s show The Conscious Consultant Hour are now available.
RADIO INTERVIEW RECORDINGS RELEASED
If you missed the interview or want to listen again, this is another opportunity to hear me talking about my book ONE NATION, ONE MISSION, ONE PROMISE – The continuing journey of fulfilling the promises made on July 4, 1776…, and in this excerpt that I think is particularly relevent I make special reference to issues of LEADERSHIP, DIVERSITY AND A POSITIVE VISION FOR AMERICA.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH – AN AMERICAN RIGHT
No matter how distasteful or disturbing this weekend’s raucous Republican presidential debate might have been to many both inside and outside the party, it was a welcome reminder that freedom of speech is alive and well and one of the greatest underpinnings of this great nation.
Despite all the personal insults and accusations being hurled around in front of millions of alternately astonished, amused and bemused Americans on national TV, we can all celebrate the fact that as long as any laws have not been violated, nobody is being thrown in jail, “detained,” or even worse “disappeared” as can happen in certain other countries around the world with which we are all familiar.
DEMONSTRATING LEADERSHIP & THE FUTURE OF AMERICA
Whether or not it demonstrated the kind of constructive debate we might prefer is another matter of course. Despite all the ugly flaws of our history that are still deeply embedded in our society, I and many others would say we do have an obligation to continue the great work of our forefathers (and mothers) in developing our civil rights and our ability to disagree respectfully.
I’m sure deep down we all want leadership that is positive and inclusive, that brings us all together, for it is in that togetherness that we continue to build strength upon strength for this great nation of ours, that we continue together to follow the journey of fulfilling the promises made on July 4, 1776.
That is the message of my book: leadership, diversity, inclusion and a positive vision for America.
Hopefully clear heads and a sense of decency and fairness will continue to prevail.
